Biography

Giovanna di Giglia, the daughter of Michelangelo di Giglia and Sigismonda Piranio, is born on 24 July 1863 in Corleone.[1] Giovanna is named after her paternal grandmother.[2]

Giovanna marries Giuseppe Jannazzo on 9 November 1879. Michaelangelo has died by this time.[3]

Giovanna and Giuseppe have at least three children: Maria (1880), Angela (1882), and Michaelangelo (1890).

Maria is born 8 October 1880 and baptized two days later. Her godparents are Biagio Birtone and Biagia Marino, a married couple.[4]

Angela is born 25 June 1882 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Biagio Cascio and Caterina Morello, a married couple.[5]

Michelangelo is born 19 February 1890 and baptized three days later.[6]

Angelina, age 18 (b. 1881), marries Giovanni Pennino, age 24 (b. 1875), on 23 July 1899 in Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[7]

Josephine Iannazzo, wife of William Dowling, dies on 7 March 1923 at age 17. She is buried with her parents, who both die in 1925.[8]

Joseph Iannazzo, a native of Corleone, Italy, born 10 November 1849, dies on 29 August 1925 at age 75. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.[8]


Death of Giovanna

Mrs. Giovanna Digiglia Iannazzo, age 63 (b. 1862) dies on 28 December 1925 in Orleans, LA.[9] She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, with her husband.[10]

Angela dies on 3 June 1965 in New Orleans.[11]
